Nan aka Brave Lettuce has written what I believe to be one of the most poignant posts on the Iraq War and Dubya's refusal to see reality on it.
Fact is our friends, colleagues and family ARE dying as the result of the over-inflated, cowboy-attitude ego known as President (not mine) George W Bush.
It's gotten old, the country is hurting and our patience is running as thin as a razor blade.
Bring our kids home.

Ok....what does a hurricane bring....
Enormous amounts of wind, water and storm surge for coastlines.
Except for the extreme destructiveness of Hurricane Katrina, isn't it time that we end the "Armageddon style" (term coined by Kat) of reporting on these...

1. diamonds or pearls?
Doesn't matter to me-they're both expensive.
2. paperback or hardcover books?
Paperbacks-take less space in bookshelves
3. carpet or hardwood floors?
Carpet--easier when I'm crawling out of my wheelchair
4. Dogs or cats?
Dogs absolutely-I'm horribly allergic to cats
5. fluffy or firm pillow?
Firm
6. fine point or medium point pens?
Medium points-angle of holding the pen doesn't have to be as exact
7. clocks a little fast or on time?
Bedroom clock is always 20 mins fast-makes me feel I have to get up immediately at alarm...others must be on time.
8. mahjong or spider solitaire (or other)?
EVERQUEST!
9. wall calendar or desk calendar?
Wall
10. 'Survivor' or 'The Amazing Race?'
Reality TV---blech
New Orleans Saints Owner Tom Benson is taking advantage of Hurricane Katrina to bolt New Orleans for San Antonio, TX. Now obviously N.O. is currently devastated while the Superdome and city recover and I could see them spending another season in San Antonio until the Superdome is rebuilt. This, however is nothing but a move for purely financial reasons and it is wrong.
After our big Anniversary we went home to watch the NASCAR race. Well we got home and Suz felt really ill. 3 hours later she was burbling into a garbage can while sitting on the bathroom floor. We suspect food poisoning.
In other news Isabella has 3 new baby sisters--our breeder has Izzy's mom "Lady" wh delivered a litter of 2 tricolor Cavaliers and a Black 'n Tan.
Their new dog Amber, a beautiful Ruby Cavalier will have her first litter of 5 in early November
Ok, people are having difficulty posting comments again....I've got Solonor helping me figure it out this time. I owe him like a case of beer now for the work he has done
October 18 is the 2 year anniversary of the best day of my life---Suz and I were married. We are madly in love and I am just so damn proud of her own quest to successfully lose weight. I am honored not only to be her life partner but also to have her in my heart. She brings out the best in me.
One thing my folks (45 yrs) do is pick a year and look back at things that have changed since that year.
We don't have that much history but in the past year:
1) Suz's grandmother passed
2) Isabella is 8 month old and now sleeps with us
3) Our elderly neighbor passed who we kinda kept an eye on
4) New neighbor is a great guy
5) My work has gotten better with less concern and doubt about the future
6) I have found a terrific new doctor who I am more at ease with than any in recent history
Well I went to the doctor Thursday....
Good News--blood pressure good (110/70), EKG good...first blood draw in 20+ years and I survived.
Bad News--I have a small Inguinal Hernia.
It's really pretty small but nonetheless I see a surgeon on Oct 31 (yes, Halloween).
It doesn't hurt too much but once in a while the Cajones will just ache like crazy and that ca be worse tha sharp pains. I'm sure this is all due to my recent weight gain which I simply must reverse.
They have dumped Pierce Brosnan in favor of a younger, blond James Bond.
I am a long-time fanatic about James Bond movies--I love all of them and I miss the Jaws character!
I just hope they're not ruining another Franchise.
...a guy in a wheelchair get a pulled groin muscle?????
Wow that's an uncomfortable thing!!!
This quote came from the public website for the Rochester Business Journal:
“Outsourcing and offshoring are realities … The train has left the station and it will not be going back. No amount of rhetoric will stop this.”
— Dilip Vellodi, Sutherland Global Services Inc. CEO, in an interview last year with a news service in India
This is a man who's company was recently given an extensive amount of local
tax breaks and incentives to stay in Rochester. Odds are...I'd say....3-4 years the company will be totally outsourced. Unfortunately this quote is backed up by personal knowledge of the firm. Mark my words...
The company listed on the right side- Tim's Trim is the business that does all the modification/repair/adjustments on my hand controls and lift for my van.
Tim Miller is not only the owner but a genuinely nice guy and he runs a good business.
They also do other custom vehicle work--ie sunroofs, truck bedliners, light racks, autostarts, etc.
I HIGHLY recommend them
