Upcoming Weekend

*sniff sniff* I smell...FOOTBALL!!!!

Yes, its that time of year again and our town is primed. The Buffalo Bills have Training Camp at a local college which is literally 7 minutes away from our home if I hit all the lights Red. If I had the time it'd be fun to go....

Rochester-a hotbed of violence

This is really sad....

Chronologically from oldest to most recent:

1) A 2 year-old boy (African-American), hanging out with his mother in a vacant lot next to their home at 1:30am was shot. The child had a non-life-threatening injury.

WTF was this kid doing out of bed at this time of night??? Yes it was a bad situation with the shooting, but still...

2) A 13 yr old boy (African-American) was shot dead by a stranger who followed him at 11:30pm.

Again-13 years old and walking the streets late night-It should also be stated that she lost another child to street violence before. Anyone see a trend???

3) A 12 year old girl (African-American) was shot 3 times (she'll be ok) because she was approaching a police officer with a 10-inch butcher knife

The mother was on the radio saying--and being as close to a quote as I can be-"I am amazed that the police officer was an African-American. This is a black-on-black crime". She is a professional victim--she wants to lead a vigil and march against the Police Department but the wind was sucked from her sails when she realized it was a African-American officer who shot her daughter to protect the family, others and himself from a dangerous situation. It's not a "black-on-black" crime--it's self-defense!

AMAZING WEEKEND

Had a terrific opportunity this weekend....I paid $100 and attended a charity dinner for Camp Good Days & Special Times-a camp for kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

The reason I went to the dinner was because former Buffalo Bills Head Coach Marv Levy was the Speaker. I also attended the VIP Reception for autographs and had the honor of speaking with him 1-on-1 for a moment. He is a wonderful man and a terrific speaker. He gave a very positive evaluation of the Bills for the upcoming year.

Our friends Steve & Meghan came over Sunday night for pizza and geekspeak. Had a great night..
