Dubya's visit

If we didn't have family and great jobs here, I think we'd move in a heartbeat.

Dubya's visit was totally glossed by the local media. It was a "Town Hall" setting. The "catrefully selected" audience generally rambled on about their lives and how private Social Security funds would benefit them so much. One even babbled about her upcoming wedding which was turned into "Oh look, George is so funny" when he said he couldn't attend but would send a gift (yeah right).

Everytime someone started to discuss something serious, he would cut them off and move on.

If I were the "Round Table participants", I'd be disgusted that I was used for such an orchestrated event.

Grin...or....groan?

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see
from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack.

"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday."

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his
name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager.

Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.

The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.

She finds the manager and says, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out
there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants to
use this as collateral."

She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this?"

The bank manager looks back at her and says...

"It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

Dubya is coming to town

Going to a high school near Suz's office on Tuesday...roads...airport-all shut down. Boy is she gonna have a rough day.

Our regular TV station is planning wall-to-wall coverage from 5:30am-this is ridiculous as he's not even coming in until 10am or so. I'm not going to turn on the radio or TV tomorrow at all.

On the good side, we're spending this coming Sunday evening with Fran and Becky having dinner and seeing Star Wars Episode III.

10 year College Reunion

Went to my Reunion this weekend...they're also closing the department (RIT- Social Work) in 2 years.

Saw a lot of people I haven't seen in years and some I've seen recently. Went to a couple workshops. Suz and I went to China Gate (remember the Post Rudicon dinners, Fran???) the for the Closing Dinner & Ceremony. It was a tough dinner because they honored the people who had passed on. There was a lot of emotion around the closing of the program as it is one of the few merged Deaf/Hearing Social Work Programs in the country. Yes, I cried as I spoke because this program really formed the core of who I am as a person.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY....

36 today...beautiful day....short work week. Got an awesome card from Kat (Thanks Kat!), my parents called and sung to me and Suz gave me a boatload of candy to share with people at work. I got a bunch of nice emails from the people in our Repair department as well.

It's been 80 degrees and sunny out today so Isabella and I had a great walk.

Best part--I've been on Email Support all day so I've been pigging out. Dark Chocolate M&M's and Doublestuf Peanut Butter Oreos....nummm-mm-y.

Been a really really good day.

Busy busy weekend

Saturday we had a wedding to go to....one of Suz's workmates. Interesting....

Sunday we had Church and Mother's Day Activities. Then we went to the Touring Broadway show Movin Out. GREAT show! Imagine Ballet-style dancing (but much higher energy) and a rock show all-in-one. It was terrific!

To the Fran Clan-thanks for yet another hilarious Birthday card!!! :)

New Doc

Well I saw my new doctor today...terrific funny lady.

All tests for standard physical are good. We discussed drawing blood (hasn't been done in 20+ years) and the Phlebotomist ran screaming. You see they can't find the veins in my arms. They will have to "go south" for it....later appt to be made.

Etiquette Class

During a good manners and etiquette class, the teacher says to her
students:

"If you were dating a well-educated young girl from a prominent family
and during a dinner for two you needed to go to the toilet, what would
you say to her?"

Mike replies : "Hang on a minute, I'm going to take a piss."

The teacher says : "That would be very rude and improper on your part."

Charlie says: "I'd say, I'm sorry, I need to go to the toilet. I'll be
back in a minute.'"

The teacher says : "That's much better but to mention the word 'toilet'
during a meal is unpleasant."

And Billy says: "My dear, please excuse me for a moment. I have to go
shake hands with a personal friend, whom I hope to be able to introduce
to you after dinner. "

The teacher passed out..
