Sunday we headed out to a campground for Suz's family's annual Steakfest.
It was raining but it wasn't bad. Then it started pouring-add in an Open-Air Pavillion with a Tin Roof and it started getting really loud. Then the hail hit-we had to form a human shield around Suz' grandmother to protect her, and Isabella and I huddled against a picnic table with towels around us.
It literally sounded like a hurricane.
By the time it was over, we were all completely soaked. The dog was a wet ball of fur shivering in my lap and extremely unhappy. I was shaking.
We gave up and went home, unpacked the van and changed our clothes. We had to trap Isabella in the bathroom and towel dry her as she hates the Hair Dryer.
We bought pizza and vegged out the rest of the night.

Found out I have Labor Day off--was scheduled to work it but someone offered to take my shift...sure...no complaints here.
A well known blog-the Passioniate Ailurophile-has closed moved. While we had our differences, she had great info and great links on our site. My wife and I will miss reading it...especially the cooking portions of which I learned quite a bit.
I've pondered closing this blog at times-but I still enjoy having it to post a bit so unless I get completely-utterly-bored with it I'll keep it going.

There's a book coming out that supposedly lays out the Bush family and it's dark secrets....will update with title when I buy it.
There's a group gunning for Democratic Pres. Candidate John Kerry called the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth". Well they're ripping at Kerry saying that he's unfit, yada yada yada. The interesting thing is the NYT has articles with quotes where some of the same people are praising Kerry not too long ago...now they're after him.
Hmm...what could cause this to happen? Maybe...MONEY? The link below will show you a graph that clearly demonstrates that the source of the money this group gets leads right back to .....you got it....George Bush.

He gave $2,000 to Bush's re-election campaign this year, records show. Seven of the 10 initial financial contributors to the veterans group have given to Bush's campaign this year, according to PoliticalMoneyLine."
Well...Isabella had been acting odd this week-reduced energy, cranky, etc. Ended up she ingested a 6" piece of string... well Suz had to help her expel it last night. Yes, help her...ick. Anyways Isabella is much happier and feeling better. Now she gets an attitude-barking every night when we put her down for about a half an hour until she realizes we're ignoring her. Its' a dominance thing.
Of course dealing with her and work I'm backed up on all my stuff. I owe Mike his video card and have to work on the church website.

Not the best of weekends...
Early last week, a friend of ours-39 yrs old-was driving 70 down a road (passing a car on the RIGHT-ie emergency lane) near our airport (Fran--Brooks Road FYI). It's very narrow under a bridge. Well she spun out on some gravel and flipped her car into oncoming traffic...where it landed under a Wegman's Tractor Trailer. She bounced like a pinball and apparently in her skull her left-side brain went one way and the right-side the other and she tore the connecting tissue. She was declared Brain-dead Tuesday and taken off of Life Support Friday after her organs were donated.
She was a single mom with 2 kids-one serving in Iraq. They got him home quickly. At the funeral home today I told him I appreciate what he did to protect us. He stood there stiff and politely thanked me-he's a nice guy, but god....22 and your mom just died. That....just.....sucks.
We know her sister and her kids real well too...good kids...they came up and we hugged em both. Hard to accept they won't see their favorite Aunt anymore.
Then I accidentally ran over Isabella's tail again tonight..(sigh)
Fran has been having tornadoes near him...Yes Fran, we had one in Geneva a few years back...other than that the rare straight-line windstorm.

This is totally BS....a guy kills a cop and almost automatically gets life in prison. But Terry Nichols, who took part in the Oklahoma City Bombing, killed 168 people and gets Life in Prison..both Federal & State...
