California fires

I must say something with regards to the California Wildfires.

First off-I think these were purposely set...by terrorists-I don't know.

Gray Davis-outgoing (ie Canned) Governor of the State of CA, has 2 C-130 planes that are armed to fight wildfires by dropping flame retardant, sand, water, etc over burning areas. THEY HAVEN'T MOVED FROM THE SAN DIEGO AIRBASE AS OF YET!. This is ridiculous!!! You have people's lives burning and now firefighters are dying and you aren't burning up the phone lines insisting these birds get in the air???? WTF!

Those who read this blog, take a moment and close your eyes please..and say a brief prayer for the people who are becoming victims of and who are fighting these fires.

Thoughts on George Carlin

From my George Carlin calendar:

"Here's something I consider a crime against society:
Women with hyphenated names. Hey, lady! Pick a name, will ya?"

This is an issue, that while it wasn't one in our union, I have seen other couples bicker incessantly when asked why they did it. Suz and I decided early on-her birth last name...history. Too many bad memories and ghosts on that side of the family.

I understand the idea that some wives feel they need to "maintain their identity", but for us...and I suspect other friends (Fran?), that we celebrate that while we are still individuals, we are now a union...a family.

Although I have to admit I've caught myself a couple times calling her my fiance' still-she's done the same thing in talking about me. Anyone else have this experience?

Another week starts...

Well it's Monday (not really I still have to sleep) but the thought is bad enough :(

Couch is here...OMFG...I love this couch...leather smell...nummy. Fran-next time you visit-you are not allowed to hump our new couch :)

Carnivale-it's wierd..kinda like a horrific car accident or train wreck that you're drawn to look at further.

Site of the Moment.... Where's George-neat little obsessi---er, hobby...yeah hobby, that's it :)

Friday stuff

Almost a full 7 days have passed since our Wedding and I would say that overall we are still the same people, minus a ton of wedding-related stress and a lot of really good sleep.

Tonight we went to the Union party. We walk in and drop our tickets with our names written on the back into a big box with probably close to 100+ or more others. They started drawing names for the Door prizes and boom! I get called as we won a $25 Wegman's Gift Card (YEAH!). Went up to get it and the Union President announces that we just got married-everyone cheered.

I am the luckiest man on the planet.

In other semi-wedding-related news-my parent's present to us arrives tomorrow (at 8:00am-*cringe*)....our new Leather Sofa!!!!. Details to follow Saturday or Sunday after excessive nap tests.

Life of a married man

...is great! We're doing well...presents continue to trickle in.

We bought and put together a beautiful cabinet the other night.

New rugs, our puppy and maybe a laptop are on deck.

Please allow the Blurf to introduce...

MR. & MRS. PETE & SUZETTE B.

Yes the Wedding and Reception went off without a hitch-put quite simply, it was....perfect.

Fran kept me sane and composed-and had us looking terrific. We love him and his family as we do our own.

We are honored by the generosity of our friends and family in the gifts they gave us. The plans are to put the financial presents between home improvements, paying bills and saving for a new home 5-6 years down the road.

I received a lot of comments about the wedding...they were really all of the same vein-that there wasn't a dry eye in the church.

I'm working on getting a domain to put up our wedding pictures. We won't hear from our photographers for a couple weeks while everything is processed.

Wedding Update

Well the tux is hanging in the closet.

We also got the specialized clay-design Cake Topper. It's amazing. Suz covered her side and showed me mine--WOW! The designer got it right down to the chrome on my wheelchair wheels!!!! Even included my brace on my left hand

Countdown T-4 days

Tuxes are done although mine did require some final adjustments. They were much more accomodating then I had hoped-they actually cut the pants down to my leg length rather than forcing me to sit on the legs folded underneath. We are very pleased.

Suz's nephews (who will walk her down the aisle as her parents are passed) look damn good in their tuxes....wow.

Want to say hello to an old family friend, Ted, who has discovered my site. Sorry you and your better half can't make the wedding..:(

Cleaning the condo stem to stern this wknd...carpets get cleaned tonight. Next week is one thing after another including a Broadway show Tuesday ("The hills are alive with the sound of...BLECH!").

Baseball is almost over!!!

Yay! I've never been a big baseball fan...I much prefer football.

Playing football in stadiums with a baseball field still installed isn't good as the cleats don't stick and actually cause more problems for those who need the grip.

I think they should start the baseball season 2-3 weeks earlier to avoid some of the overlap.

Boobiethon

Well one very-white flatboy-chest-pecs now for display at the 2003 Boobiethon. This is very outgoing for me but it is to raise $ for Breast Cancer Research and that makes it worth it.

I did Photoshop out the Open Heart Surgery scar though...make it a little more tasteful :)

Pay-per-click

Posted this before but I thought I'd put it up again.

Not sure if anyone else is up for this-if so cool...if not no worries. I signed up for a Paid-To-Read Email group. Then I setup a separate email box so they all go there and I click a few here & there nightly and am seeing some money building. If anyone's interested click the link please.

Mailingheaven

Here's another good one too.

George Carlin Strikes Again!

1. Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards: NAIVE

2. Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant like making a peeing section in the swimming pool?

3. OK... so if the Jacksonville Jaguars are known as the "Jags" and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are known as the "Bucs", what does that make the Tennessee Titans?

4. If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea...does that mean that one enjoys it?

5. There are three religious truths: a. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah. b. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of The Christian faith. c. Baptists do not recognize each other in the liquor store or at Hooters.

6. If people from Poland are called Poles, why aren't people from Holland
called Holes?

7. Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery?

8. If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?

9. Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale
bread to begin with?

10. Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist but a person
who drives a racecar not called a racist?

11. Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety one?

12. If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed?

13. If Fed Ex and UPS were to merge, would they call it Fed UP?

14. Do Lipton Tea employees take coffee breaks?

15. What hair color do they put on the driver's licenses of bald men?

16. I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me...they're cramming for their final exam.

17. I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered what do Chinese mothers use? Toothpicks?

18. Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do, write to them? Why don't they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen can look for them while they deliver the mail?

19. If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are
the others here for?

20. You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive.

21. Ever wonder what the speed of lightning would be if it didn't zigzag?

22. If a cow laughed, would milk come out of her nose?

23. Whatever happened to Preparations A through G?

Arrival of Fall...

Well it's here in all its glory.

Came home last night-temp was 43...not warm but not too overly cold. Tonight it's going to be 38-that's too cold for right now.

My Fantasy Football team started off with a solid win but has faded horribly to 1-3. Changes are made...I shall triumph again.
